Our Family

Andy Roush
Co-Founder

Andy Roush grew up on an old dairy farm in Howell, Michigan. He completed his undergrad studies at Alma College and then went on to attend the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona. After graduating with his Master’s Degree, Andy missed the seasons of Northern Michigan. He made the trip back to Michigan and worked as a project manager in Corporate America and then spent many years in finance. Northern Michigan was always a favorite place for Andy and he thought it would be a dream come true if one day he could live and work there. Andy is thankful to have seen his dream come true and truly enjoys growing and harvesting the fruits of his labor at Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery. His favorite wine is Marquette.

Tracie Roush
Co-Founder

Tracie Roush grew up in the small town of Amherst, Ohio. She too worked in Corporate America after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Business Management. Her father was a builder all her life, so she enjoyed working with tools when she wasn’t behind the computer or out on sales calls. Tracie's favorite was Late Harvest Riesling when Petoskey Farms first opened its doors, but over the years her palate has changed. Her favorite now? Tied between Petoskey White and Romance.

Josh Morgan
Head Wine Maker

Josh Morgan grew up in Northern Michigan,
in the rural town of Mio. After graduating high school, he attended Central Michigan University and graduated in 2006 with his B.A. in Commercial Parks and Recreation Management. Upon graduation, he moved to Traverse City where he got his start in the wine industry working in the tasting room at Black Star Farms Winery. Shortly after starting in the tasting room an opportunity opened in the cellar to help with bottling, and from there he transitioned into a cellar hand roll. Josh spent nine years working his way up through different roles in the cellar until he achieved the role of Cellar Master. The opportunity at Black Star Farms allowed him to learn from some of the best winemakers in Northern Michigan, from the delicacies of Riesling, the romance of Pinot Noir and everything in between. Josh joined the Petoskey Farms Team in 2017. Outside of work Josh also works as a Paid-on-Call Firefighter for the Petoskey Department of Public Safety. When he’s not working, he is spending time with his family and his Mountain Cur – Max. They enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors and finding the next best ice cream parlor!

Derrick Vogel
Vineyard Manager

Derrick Vogel has been the vineyard manager at Petoskey Farms Vineyard and Winery since 2019. Derrick and his wife own Phenology Vine Care, a small vineyard management business, and are starting their own winery, Folklor Wine and Cider. Derrick found his way to viticulture after a ten year career performing diagnostic testing in healthcare laboratories. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science and a Master’s degree in healthcare administration. Derrick completed a two year viticulture and winemaking apprenticeship program in November 2020, including coursework through the Viticulture & Enology Science & Technology (VESTA) program. Derrick is driven by the challenge of growing in the Tip of the Mitt AVA. He is currently managing close to 30 acres in the Tip of the Mitt and plans to grow 25 - 35 acres of grapevines, apple and pear trees at his Folklor site in Charlevoix. Derrick is passionate about wine from all over the world but is especially drawn to wines grown and produced in Michigan.

Rachel Elder
Tasting Room Co-Manager

Rachel Elder grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and went to Hope College where she played lacrosse and graduated in May of 2021 with her B.A. in Business and Communication. A few months before graduation, she decided to explore possibilities of working in the wine industry since it was something she had an above average interest in, thanks to her mom and a college semester spent studying abroad in France. Through a friend of a friend and God’s timing, she got connected with Andy and Tracie at the time they were looking for an apprentice. After a few interviews and a visit to the winery, she realized they were the kind of bosses she dreamed of having, the winery itself instantly captivated her and felt like home, and she matched up well with what they were looking for. Fast forward a week after she graduated college, Rachel moved up to Petoskey and began her career as Andy and Tracie’s apprentice and a co-manager of the tasting room. She couldn’t be happier to work here, learn all about wine, and live in Petoskey! Her favorite wine is a toss up among the dry reds, and outside of work she loves spending time with friends especially when it involves outdoor activities (summertime beach volleyball, krushball, pickleball, pontoon Sundays, bonfires, hiking, and of course drinking wine).

Angie Horning
Tasting Room Co-Manager

Angie Horning was raised in the small town of Aurora in Southern Indiana. She attended Concordia University Ann Arbor and has a B.A. in Child Life Specialist and Child Development, and a M. ED in Early Childhood Education from Concordia, Seward NE. Angie moved to Petoskey when her husband Brian received a job offer to be a Youth and Family minister at a local church in 2018. She met Andy and Tracie through a church event and soon discovered the winery. One summer day in 2018, Tracie called Angie and asked if she’d be willing to help during the busy summer months while she was off of school. Angie worked in the tasting room during the summer as well as weekends in the fall. After two years of teaching throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Angie got burned out from stress at her teaching job and needed a change. An opportunity came up to stay on full time all year-round at the winery, and Angie decided that was the perfect change so she transitioned from teaching. During her spare time Angie enjoys life up north including: kayaking in the summers; hiking with her two dogs Callie (a golden retriever mix) and Lola (a great pyrenees); pontoon Sundays with her Petoskey Farms Crew :); and drinking wine and playing board games with friends. She also enjoys thrift stores and knows all the good places for deals.
